The Christian witness of Southern Baptist work in all institutions of higher learning is in response to our Lord’s command to make know the Gospel to all persons.  This witness is an integral part of the nature and mission of the church.  The role of the church is indispensable to the maturing spiritual, moral, and intellectual lives of students.  Because the college is engaged in the search for truth, of which God is the source, the Christian perspective is essential to the realization of the ultimate purpose of higher education.  The unique nature of the college situation demands a specialized ministry by our denomination to the individuals in the campus community with their need for redemption and Christian nurture.

The official name of our group shall be the Roanoke College Baptist Student Union.

The purpose of our organization shall be to minister to the spiritual needs of students, to promote Christian fellowship, to train future Christian leaders, and to proclaim the Gospel on our campus.

Membership is open to any member of the Roanoke College community who is willing to uphold the purpose of the Baptist Student Union as stated above.
